#38 - Twiggi Interview and Feature

Reggae Rhythm Update is celebrating its first full year online with two big announcements. The first is an interview with one of my all-time favorites, Twiggi. She’s an incredible singer and there’s nobody in reggae than harmonizes like her. Her voice has always done something to me. Maybe it will do the same to you. Twiggi talks about working with Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Tony Rebel and others at the Penthouse studio, singing with Mikey Spice on an Earth Wind & Fire cover, her latest gospel recordings, and other topics. The second announcement is that Ernie B’s Reggae, the world’s premier reggae mail order company and distributor, has come together with Reggae Rhythm Update in a sponsorship. It’s a perfect fit. Since starting this program, I’ve had Ernie B’s in the back of my mind as the one company I’d like to work with. They offer quality and if I may be so bold as to say, so does Reggae Rhythm Update. Enjoy this show, and I look forward to our next year together.

Josh-
Great episode and interview. I remember when we got to meet Twiggi after a Buju or Beres show at The Roxy back in the 90s! The old Penthouse riddims still rule. Why can’t today’s dancehall producers realize that a great singer + a strong bass line = a killer!?

Mark, that was a Toots show.

Yes man, I have specific people in mind that I’m requesting interviews with. I definitely want to make interviews a big part of the show and I’m quite sure I can score some great guests…you know what I mean. In the meantime, you might be interested in checking my interview with producer Niney the Observer that I did for another podcast. I recorded it Friday night.
I think this conversation with Twiggi was awesome too, because she was so involved with so much great music during one of my favorite periods of time.

Blessings Twiggi…God has brought us both from quite a long way…” We overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of our testimony.” I am proud to be working with you in the vineyard. Keep up the good work mama…

I can’t say anything everybody has already said! All I know is Josh, It’s you who introduced Twiggi’s music to me when listening to 88.9. Eversince then, She’s been one women in the business who has always had the wow factor. Her harmonious vocals and style are always a compliment to any riddim she rides. GOD has chosen a good one to sing his praises!
Take care Josh and Thanks for that wonderful look into Twiggi’s Past and Present.
