#19 – Umbrella
Shaggy’s Big Yard label has taken Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and turned it into a reggae track, complete with additional vocals from the man himself. And Fort Knox Five have turned the gritty reggae of Marley’s “Duppy Conqueror” into a really fun, highly danceable song. In fact, if you aren’t dancing when you hear it… What’s my line? Oh yeah, there’s something wrong with you.
#19’s rhythm update is the “Dirty Dozen,” an old trombone instrumental, revived by the A-Lone label out of Spain. Glen Washington and Alpheus sing new vocals over this one. To leave a voice mail for the show, call (617) 297-2557.
